Studio Vibes

24 January 2018

January 2018 has already made a big impact on the studio vibe . Each year I have an increase of energy & wealth of ideas on the go following the busy Christmas period .
I firstly started the month with the dreaded paperwork & tax return . Not a favourite task of mine but on the other hand, its a real insight into the visible growth of my journey & helps me reflect on the positives & negatives, of my decision making, the previous financial year.
The life of a jeweller, is one that must contain good strategies in time management . Combining time for reflection , design work,  communication & engagement with your audience , production time & realisation . I have learnt to focus & keep going and not look up . To 'have courage in my convictions' *quote given to me by Jivan Astfalck , masters mentor at The School of Jewellery, Birmingham, UK. A piece of advice that is cemented in my mind.
I always follow the ethos that a comfortable studio environment, is one that benefits the mind. I need a clean white space where i work , so a good New Years clean was my first practical task before making commenced this month.
I also like to purchase a gift for the studio , this year, I purchased a new Chenier cutter , which is a jig suitable for wire & tube cutting . seriously a MUST in each and every jeweller's tool box!
I also choose a selection of pieces to go into a January Sale , this year my favourite New year sale selection piece was the Ethiopian Opal  Fine Gold Ring, which sold straight away *thank you*
The diary is filling up with consultations for engagements & wedding commissions alongside enquiries for romantic Valentines Gifts which I am currently in full flow making NEW pieces for stockists & the studio + showroom.
My new year's, Studio resolution, is to be bold & brave . I am putting together an archive of photography to share with you all the bespoke works completed last year, alongside previous Little Joy Collection pieces. Its a good was to see a visual reference to my developments & show a variety of skills & aesthetics I can achieve. Its been quite a learning curve in itself for me , and i have also taken some of my favourite elements and best sellers to design NEW things , which i am finding very exciting ! I won't give it all away, but the new collection, includes some very beautiful stones, that have very bespoke cuts..... hand cut & polished !
I look forward to sharing with you my developments in my next post.....
